Infrastructure Development

Roads, flyovers, drainage and water networks for state departments, urban local bodies and industrial estates — VG Terra's new focus.

What VG Terra Does For You

Infrastructure development is VG Terra's new focus. We take on roads, flyovers, drains, water networks and sewage treatment plants for state departments, urban local bodies and industrial estates, with the same engineering supervision and quality standards we have applied to building projects in and around Bengaluru since 2010.

What's included

  • Roads & highways
  • Flyovers & grade separators
  • Storm-water drains & culverts
  • Water supply & UGD networks
  • Earthworks & site grading
  • Sewage treatment plants

What we do

  • Roads & highways

State highways, ring roads, city roads and village links, built layer by layer: subgrade, GSB, WMM, DBM and BC, or PQC on a DLC base. Each layer is tested for density and level before the next.

  • Flyovers & grade separators

Bored piles, piers, PSC and steel composite girders, deck slabs and RE-wall ramps. Girders are erected at night so traffic below keeps moving.

  • Storm-water drains & culverts

RCC rectangular drains, box culverts and hume pipe crossings, designed from a level survey of the catchment. Culverts are scheduled before the monsoon so cross-drainage is ready when the rain arrives.

  • Water supply & UGD networks

Intake wells, treatment plants, DI and HDPE mains, overhead tanks and underground drainage with manholes. Every pipeline section is pressure-tested at 1.5 times working pressure before it is backfilled.

  • Earthworks & site grading

Clearing, cutting, filling and embankments with excavators, tippers and vibratory rollers. Black cotton soil is removed and replaced, and fill goes down in layers tested against lab MDD.

  • Sewage treatment plants

SBR and extended-aeration STPs for towns and townships. We build the civil structures, install pumps, blowers and diffusers, and commission the plant until discharge results are accepted.

How we work

  1. 01
    Survey before quantities

Every package starts with a total-station survey and a level grid. Drawings, drain gradients and cut-and-fill quantities are checked against it before a single machine is mobilised to site.

  2. 02
    Drainage before pavement

Culverts, cross drains and side drains are built first. Water then has somewhere to go in the monsoon, and finished pavement layers are not undermined or washed out.

  3. 03
    Test every layer

Field density, WMM gradation, bitumen content and cube results are recorded against chainage. The client's engineer receives the test register with each running bill, not only at the end.

  4. 04
    Keep traffic moving

On live roads we work in half-width stretches, with barricades, flagmen and night lighting. Flyover girders go up at night in closed lanes that reopen by 6 am.

Frequently asked questions

Which road layers and specifications do you build to?

Most of our flexible pavements have GSB, WMM, DBM and a BC wearing course, with thicknesses taken from the pavement design, which depends on soil CBR and expected traffic. For heavy truck routes we build rigid pavement (PQC on a DLC base) with dowels at every contraction joint.

Can you work through the monsoon?

Earthwork, compaction and bituminous work stop during heavy rain. We plan around it: culverts and drains are built between January and May, and pavement layers follow once cross-drainage is in place. Piling, pier and girder work on flyovers continues through the monsoon with covered pours, dewatering pumps and protected curing.

How do you keep traffic moving on flyover and city road jobs?

We agree a traffic management plan with the traffic police and the client before work starts. Piling and girder erection happen at night in closed lanes that reopen by 6 am. On city roads we work one side at a time in short stretches, with steel plates over open trenches at every shop and house entrance.

What do you need from us to price an infrastructure package?

Tender or working drawings, the BOQ if one exists, soil investigation reports and the specifications the contract refers to. With these we visit the site, prepare our own quantities and send an itemised estimate. If there is no survey or soil data, we can arrange both before estimating.

One call with the engineer is usually enough to know the next step: a site visit, a sketch, or a quote.
